Returning for the first time since 2019, Routes Asia 2023 Awards has awarded as ASIA’s BEST AIRPORT under the Airport and Destination Marketing in the ” Under 5M Passengers category.”
The award was given last February 15 in Chiang Mai, Thailand and was received by MCIAA’s Atty. Tani-Angub Gaviola, Naomi Arcayan,Elmar Tagaloguin and Jemar Nietes with GMR Megawide Cebu Airport Corp (GMCAC) Aines Liboro, Ivan Romano, and Inaki Ponio.
In the same awarding event, the Philippines’ Department of Tourism was named winner in the Destination category for it’s continued persistent efforts to partner with airports and airlines to reinstate discontinued routes and secure new air services.

SMUGGLED CIGARETTES SEIZED–The Philippine Coast Guard(PCG)-Cebu confiscated P1,028,000 worth of smuggled cigarettes from China.
PCG reported that the goods were misdeclared as five balikbayan boxes of eggplants but it yielded 10,280 packs of cigarettes. It was bound to Cagayan de Oro.
It was turned over to the Bureau of Customs-Cebu.
