CEBU CITY—At least 20,000 drivers and operators of public utility vehicles (PUVs) and tricycles in Central Visayas received cash assistance from two national government agencies during simultaneous payouts on Wednesday, April 8.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Central Visayas (DSWD-7) reported that as of 11 a.m., around 45 percent of the region’s 15,766 listed tricycle drivers had already claimed their aid. The distribution is being conducted across 10 locations in the region.
DSWD-7 Regional Director Shalaine Marie Lucero said beneficiaries belong to the “green-listed” drivers identified for immediate assistance. The agency is using a real-time digital dashboard to monitor the progress of payouts and ensure efficient distribution.
