CEBU CITY, Philippines β The Cebu Port Authority (CPA) will suspend passenger terminal fees and grant discounts on key port charges for two months starting April 18, in a bid to cushion the impact of rising fuel costs on travelers and the shipping industry.
TheΒ measure, approved by the Cebu Port Commission through Memorandum Circular No. 4, series of 2026, is in response to an ongoing fuel crisis that has driven up operating expenses for shipping lines and, in turn, passenger fares and cargo rates.
Under the circular, CPA will suspend the collection of passenger terminal fees across all terminals it owns and operates, effectively absorbing the cost of maintaining these facilities while keeping access affordable for the riding public.
The agency will also implement a 40-percent discount on berthing and anchorage fees for domestic vessels operating within its jurisdiction.
In addition, CPA will suspend the collection of roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) wharfage fees for cargo vehicles transporting purely agricultural products.
